THE LONGER TERM
CALAIS PORT 2015
In the longer term, both ports need to create new footprints that will allow for future major development in order to provide the requiredincrease in capacity as demanded by continued traffic growth. Such development will increase interoperability and will help to promote and optimise the interconnection between different modes of transport – road, rail, short sea shipping – whilst minimising the impact on the environment and promoting competition and trade within the EU.

Calais Port 2015
- A major project to increase the capacity of the Port of Calais.
- Development of a new harbour.
- 3 cross-Channel berths and 1 Ro-Ro multi purpose berth.
- New cross-Channel terminal.
- 80 hectares of new platforms.
- New interface design of road-rail and other Ro-Ro traffic.
- Full re-organisation of cross-Channel traffic flows.
- Creation of 2,000 jobs per year during construction phase and 1700 jobs

Dover Western Docks Revival
- Facilitating a dedicated ferry terminal.
- Opportunity to enhance ferry capacity.
- Developing a unique integrated logistics solution utilising Dover’s strategic location.
- Enhancing efficiency through utilisation of empty backloads already heading to Calais (and Dunkirk) via ferry from Dover.
- Protecting long term port capacity for core ferry business.
- Improving hinterland connectivity.
- Catalyst for wider regeneration of Dover.
This BRIDGE project is the continuation of a long co-operation between the two ports.
