BRIDGE
THE GLOBAL DIMENSION

TWO PORTS, ONE VISION AND A COMMON PROJECT

Freight traffic is forecase to increase by 40% by 2030. Such growth requires both ports to protect, enhance and deliver complementary short and long-term capacity requirements in order to meet the demands of the market (including traffic growth, increasing vessel size and multimodal transport) and to support the resilience of the corridor.

Future traffic growth will require the combination of excellent logistical performance with sustainable development. Ensuring resilience requires adaptation to new logistical organisation and new modes of transport in order to guarantee the societal and environmental accepance of large volumes of transport. The combination of modal shift, efficient traffic management, high levels of capacity for ships and the involvement of ICT will allow this unique port system to meet hte challenge of state-of-the-art logistics and server a performing European economy.

This BRIDGE project is the continuation of a long co-operation between the two ports.
